In this role you will be required to maintain a data base unique to a specialty area (i.e. tumor registry, cancer registry, or trauma registry). This can include identification, collection, coding, scoring, and entering of data into a registry database. In addition, performing follow-up for the purposes of incidence, treatment and outcomes, performance improvement, administrative planning and marketing, support programs and research activities. You will interpret data for research projects, as well as ensures adherence to data management protocols set forth to insure regulatory compliance standards. Assists with quality control activities, information requests, and quality improvement studies as requested. This position will also collect, code and maintain data unique to a Level I trauma registry. Identify reportable neoplasms, collect clinical data, and code and enter medical information into the Registry database. Calculate the severity index score and probability of survival for trauma patients. Perform life-time follow-up to provide cancer incidence, treatment and outcome information for quality improvement activities, administrative planning and marketing, support programs and research activities. Interpret data for research projects, and ensures adherence to data management protocols set forth in order to maintain Level I trauma status. Supervisor of Field Services
Cancer Registry Coordinator Applicant must be a CTR with experience in coordinating the work of a hospital cancer registry. Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Life Science, Medical Records, Nursing, or Allied Health field from a four-year college or university preferred. This is a full-time position and requires physical presence in an on-campus office. Rex Healthcare is an approved cancer program (Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program) of the ACoS Commission on Cancer. Our date of reference is 1988, and there are over 44,000 cases in the database. The coordinator will need to design reports using Registry data (including narrative summaries and comparisons, survival analyses, and graphic presentation of data) and exporting into Excel format. She/he will perform or coordinate quality assurance audits and patient care evaluation studies on Registry data; ensure timely reporting of cancer incidence data to NCCCR and the NCDB; coordinate the publishing of the Annual Report; monitor daily workflow of six fulltime and two casual employees; and numerous other duties as needed. Experience in the use of OncoLog software is preferred but not required. Social/Clinical Research Specialist The primary purpose of this position is to review and abstract medical record data (demographics, history and extent of disease, diagnostic procedures, initial and follow-up treatment, and outcome) on patients consented to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Tissue Procurement Protocol and/or the UNC Cancer Survivorship study. The individual may also assist in data abstraction for other IRB-approved protocols, as needed. Data will be entered into a secure database. The individual will also work with the North Carolina Central Cancer Registry (CCR) of the State Center for Health Statistics (SCHS) to obtain necessary information. Some travel may also be required to facilities participating in the tissue procurement protocol in order to review patient records and pathology reports on site. This position may also assist the Rapid Case Ascertainment Core staff at the CCR with the gathering and reporting of data on North Carolina cancer patients for epidemiological case-control research studies. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and cancer staging principles are required. The ideal candidate will have a college degree in an allied health field with certified courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology and/or be a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or CTR eligible.
